Long summer days…bored with not much to do…why not use your free time this summer to help raise money for Little Lives UK!
Why help?
• Like many charities, we rely on the donations to help fund our campaigns, so everyone makes an impact.
• It makes you feel good! It is very rewarding to raise money and to be part of something with the power to change people’s lives!
• It brings people together! Community is so important and being able to raise money that will benefit your community is a wonderful thing. Check out our Children’s Community Support Programme here where we support local organisations to help children in our community.
• It brings awareness to our charity and what we do!
Where to start?
There is information on the platforms you can use to fundraise with us here. Here’s some tips and ideas to get you started!
- Do something outside!
Take advantage of the weather (we don’t get this sun too often!) and use outdoor spaces to your benefit. Here are a few ideas to get you thinking about ways you can help fundraise for us!
- Sponsored run/walk-athon
- Treasure hunts
- Bake sales
- Sponsored tennis match
- Sponsored rounders game
- Silent discos
- Community car boot sale
- Have fun and pick something you are interested in!
One of the most important things is to have FUN while fundraising! It is in the name after all! Do something that you enjoy and are passionate about. Love makeup? How about you do friends and families makeup and ask them to donate? Love movies? How about you have an outdoor movie night in your garden? Love board games and puzzles? Why don’t you host a game night? It is great to talk to people about your interests and doing this you can both raise money for a good cause and also have a great time.
- Fundraise with others!
Fundraising is all about community. By working with others to raise money for charity you can make friends and do good for your community in the process. Not only this but by working as a team to fundraise you are able to reach a wider audience and get more people involved. The more the merrier!
- You don’t have to fundraise to make a difference
Don’t fancy creating an event or fundraising? That’s okay! There are still things you can do to help us on your own. Why not have clear out and donate any unwanted clothing, toys and other belongings? It is always great to get rid of things that are cluttering your home which you don’t use anymore, especially when you donate them. That way they can benefit someone else! Our 3 charity shops always need donations. Feel free to drop them into our stores. And if you have any electronics to donate, we offer free postage too, you can find the link here!
Another way you can help is to volunteer at our charity shops! You can find our shops here. Choosing to volunteer doesn’t need to take up too much of your time, however long you can help out would be greatly appreciated and will make a difference.
5. Keep it simple
As already mentioned, you don’t need to create and organise an event to raise money for charity. But if you do organise an event it doesn’t need to be complicated. Why not dye or shave your beard/hair? Have an eating competition? Fancy dress day in the office? You could even give up a bad habit and give the money to charity?
Or instead of coming up with your own ideas why not join us at our fundraising events? Check out our pages on Just Giving, Event Bright and Meetup where you can find more information on our upcoming events.
People usually associate fundraising with creating big events and lots of effort but you can keep it as simple as you like, it all helps!
