FAQ

What happens to my electronics after I donate them?

Where appropriate your donation will be passed directly to the children who we support with our technology campaign. Any donations which cannot be passed on directly are sold on, the money from this sale is then used to fund our campaigns supporting disabled and disadvantaged children in the UK.

Can I drop off my technology donation?

Donations can be dropped into any of our three charity shops across London.

Can I post my donations?

If you live outside of London you can still recycle technology with us. Simply download our free postage label and you can send us your electronics (up to 1Kg) from anywhere in the UK.

Do you offer office clearance?

Yes! We offer the free clearance of any electronic devices from offices across London.

Is all my data safely removed?

All devices are cleared of data when we receive them. On request we can also provide a certificate of erasure for any devices donated.

Electronics recycling that really makes a difference

About our Technology Programme

Donating your unwanted electronics makes a difference to children and their families in need of support. Little Lives UK works with local authorities, schools, youth clubs and other charities to identify children in need of electronic devices like computers and laptops.

Any items which are not suitable to be donated to children are sold in order to raise funds for our charity campaigns. A donation of electronics is not only directly beneficial to the children supported by Little Lives UK through our technology programme but it’s also beneficial to the environment.

Donating technology gives it a new life so that it doesn’t go to landfill, think of it as computer recycling.

Testimonies

speech-markThis generous donation of iPads enabled 25 children with a parent in prison to access our online support, who otherwise would have been unable to. The iPads were distributed to those families most in need, who had specifically mentioned technology had been a barrier to accessing our online support. Children with a parent in prison suffer from shame, stigma, and social isolation and also have a much higher chance of offending themselves. These children are able to join our group sessions and meet other children sharing their experiences, whilst realising they are not alone. Furthermore, children living across the country are able to receive 1:1 support with a trained practitioner, unpacking the difficult emotions associated with having a parent in prison. This partnership with Little Lives UK has been crucial in delivering support to children impacted by parental imprisonment, raising aspirations and helping them realise their full potential.

speech-markWe were so delighted to receive support from Little Lives this year. It is rare that our students get access to any new technology and the donation we received improved the quality of their education in a variety of ways. Having iPads has allowed us to branch out in the teaching of certain subjects, namely Art and Design, while the new monitors were really helpful for staff, and in turn had a positive impact on their lesson planning. Everyone who contacted us, who visited and who completed the set up was really friendly and helpful. It is such a breath of fresh air that an organisation like this, designed to identify and meet the needs of young people in such key areas, exists. Thanks again.
