On Sunday, June 1st, you might’ve caught a familiar face on popular TV show Celebrity Catchphrase – Luke Kempner, a well-known comedian, impressionist and actor. Luke battled it out between fellow celebrities, Charlie Hedges and Jeremy Vine. Luke’s impressive efforts equated to an incredible amount raised for Little Lives UK – £16,200!
Luke Kempner Wins Big for Little Lives UK on Celebrity Catchphrase
For those of you who tuned in, you’ll know that Luke was on top form with his impressive observational skills and wit to this classic game show. He quickly rose about his competitors, navigating various rounds with confidence and a healthy dose of humour. Tension built as Luke made it to the final Super Catchphrase round, where he had the chance to win big for Little Lives UK. With only 60 seconds to reach the highest level possible, Luke secured an incredible £16,200, all to be kindly donated to our charity.
The Impact for Little Lives UK
This phenomenal amount of money raised by Luke will go directly towards our ‘Someone To Talk To’ program. This campaign provides fully funded, one-to-one counselling sessions for children in schools. In a time where waiting lists for mental health services can be incredibly long, many children are left without the support they desperately need – during 2022-2023, nearly 40,000 children in England were waiting over two years for mental health support after being referred to Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services (CAMHS). Our program aims to bridge this gap, offering immediate and free access to qualified counsellors who can provide a safe space for children to express their feelings and concerns. No child deserves to wait 2 years to receive the support they deserve.
Expanding Counselling Support for Children Thanks to Luke’s Generous Contribution
Currently, we are in partnership with 10 schools across the UK – this means roughly 40 children per month can access fast and free counselling, thanks to our 6 brilliant counsellors. Luke’s support means we are able to provide even more help to more schools! It takes £300 to fund 6 counselling sessions just for one child – imagine how many more children we’re now able to offer support to! Every session funded helps a child navigate challenges such as anxiety, depression, bullying, family issues and much more, ensuring they don’t have to face these difficulties alone.
Simple Ways You Can Fundraise
This incredible effort by Luke is a reminder of the wonderful ways people can support Little Lives UK and help make a difference in the lives of disadvantaged children and young people. Every contribution counts, no matter how big or small!
Here are a few ideas of how you can get involved:
- Host a fundraising event: the best thing about fundraising events is that they can include almost anything – even something you just enjoy as a hobby! Coffee mornings, bake sales, quiz nights, anything you can think of that involves gathering friends and family for a good cause.
- Take on a challenge: if you’re into fitness, make the most of it by giving back to those in need at the same time – try a sponsored run, cycle, or hike.
- Donate unwanted items: the most obvious way to help of course would be to donate items you no longer want or need to charity, instead of letting them go to waste. We accept clothes, shoes, toys and much more in our shops, and we even offer free home collections for parts of London and South Dorset to make this even easier for you.
There are many more ways you to take part – together, we can make a difference and give every child the support and opportunities they deserve in life.
Thank you, Luke, and everyone who supports Little Lives UK!
